Pirates Against Plastic 2021 (1).png

This year our outreach to children and schools takes the form of a poster competition, supporting our pirates in their campaign against plastic pollution. All of the details can be found on the flyer, but do get in touch with any questions.

We are excited that University of Derby Alumni and established children’s author-illustrator Pippa Curnick has agreed to judge the competition. Pippa has illustrated many picture books as well as older fiction, including ‘The Boy At The Back Of The Class’ and recent editions of Mallory Towers. As author-illustrator she has just launched a brand-new illustrated fiction series based on the colourful character, Indigo Wilde. Prizes will be awarded to individuals at the Festival, with winners having the opportunity to meet Pippa and chat with her.

For the first year we are offering a prize for the school with the best overall contribution – this will be in the form of a visit/workshop led by Pippa, to be arranged for the autumn term.
