WHO WE ARE
WHO WE ARE
VALUES
We ENGAGE people in creative activity and artistic experiences which are new and exciting and challenging. We provide opportunities for PARTICIPATION which are accessible and inclusive and enriching. We encourage and support DEVELOPMENT of artists at all stages of their creative journey. We CELEBRATE creativity and showcase talent. We employ the arts to transform and unite COMMUNITIES.
We are a small TEAM of individuals working together to make positive changes in people's lives and in the life of our communities. We are supported by an ADVISORY BOARD who bring professional expertise, experience and accountability to our activities. We could not exist without an amazing crew of VOLUNTEERS who support us and are supported in learning new skills and building confidence. We work with ARTISTS from all disciplines and at all stages of their creative practice, providing supported opportunities for performance and development. We work with PARTNERS in our home city of Derby, county of Derbyshire and at a national level to deliver our own work and to support delivery of collaborative projects.
WHAT WE DO
Our flagship event, the FURTHEST FROM THE SEA FESTIVAL has run annually since 2013 and returned this year on June 24th, bringing a whole raft of free activities and performances to Cathedral Green in Derby city centre. Our 2020 festival was put on hold, and instead we were able to explore new online ways of working in SESSIONS FROM THE SHORE. In 2021 our project FURTHEST FROM THE SEA AT THE FRINGE kicked off with an outing to Belper Fringe and Greater Manchester Fringe, as well as a return to both Nottingham and Leicester comedy festivals. This project builds on our experience of developing LITTLE ED FRINGE which may, one day, return!
PROJECTS
WHAT WE DO
As well as our own events, we love working with partners to deliver collaborative projects. Our FURTHEST FROM THE SEA AT THE FRINGE project built on our experience at Nottingham and Leicester Comedy Festivals and Derby Folk Festival, providing supported opportunities for Derbyshire artists to perform in new places. Our SCHOOLS OUTREACH opens up pathways for children to engage with the arts in fun and creative ways. COMMUNITY PROJECTS are close to our heart, and we are always keen to explore opportunities for supporting delivery of local initiatives.
